You Are More Than A Parent!

A few years ago, I asked a question on Facebook to my friends that are parents. I asked, “How many parents felt that they had to sacrifice their own goals and dreams for the sake of their children?” Fifty percent said that they felt that they had to give up on their dreams so that they can be the best parent possible to their children.

Before you were a parent, you were a person that had goals and dreams. You wanted to conquer the world and make lasting change. You knew you always wanted children, but you didn’t realize how much love you would have for your child and you wanted to give him or her everything you didn’t have. If you were like me, the mistake that you made was that you started to sacrifice everything that wasn’t important for your child; including the dreams that you had before children. There is just one problem with this.

We can’t teach what we haven’t lived.

Every good parent wants the best for their child. I want my children to know who they are, find their purpose, and fulfill their mission in life to the highest level that God has for them. Every good, healthy, and loving parent wants that for their child. As parents, we are the ones that are supposed to guide and show them how to do this.

  • How can we teach them how to fulfill their purpose if we are not fulfilling ours?
  • How can we show them to do something that we are not doing ourselves? The answer is that “We CAN’T!”

Someone is Waiting On You

Nobody becomes successful without people helping them out along the way. To launch Purposeful Living Today, I had a friend that I paid to create the website, and my brother created the LLC to develop the company. When I wrote “The Purposeful Parent,” I was in a writing group where we all kept each other accountable for writing 500 words a day for six days a week. Many people helped me get to where I am today. That happened because those people pursued their purpose. Because they did, they were able to help me fulfill my mission.

Someone is waiting for you to do what you were created to do. Nobody in this life was designed to make it on their own. We were all created with a need for each other. There is a purpose that lives inside of you.
